According to a new report, the seasonal flu has killed over 110,500 kids under the age 5 worldwide. This report revealed the burden of the seasonal flu on those 5 years old and younger.
“Influenza is the second most common pathogen identified in children with [acute lower respiratory infections] and contributes substantially to the burden of hospitalization and mortality in young children,” an international team of researchers reported Thursday in The Lancet.
Children are vulnerable to the complications that come from the flu and are the biggest spreaders of the flu virus.
The flu vaccine is 59% effective in preventing the flu. Among the 115 children in the US who died from the flu last year, less than a quarter of them had received the flu vaccine.

And remember, wash your hands properly, sneeze into your upper arm not your hands and cover your cough.
If you are a healthcare worker you can purchase medical scrubs that are self cleaning and protect against all bodily fluids as they are fluid repelling. Protect yourself and your patients from spreading sneezes and coughs throughout your hospital or office.
